National Women's Day: Agency calls on multitasking women to make men more energy efficient.
Celebrating Women's day efficiently
Saving energy for our future.

RESOURCEFUL multi-tasking women are encouraged to teach their male counterparts how to be more energy-efficient this Women's Day.

"It's well known that women can multitask efficiently, while men are hopeless at it," said Barry Bredenkamp, Operations Manager of the National Energy Efficiency Agency.

"Entertaining the kids, making supper and reading a magazine all at the same time is nothing for some ladies, while men sometimes struggle to talk and watch TV at the same time."

"Hopefully if women show men how it's done this Women's Day, the principles will rub off and men will become more energy efficient, meaning households conserve power and save money and the environment."

He added: "For instance, changing all the incandescent light bulbs around the house for energy efficient ones while watching Saturday sport, or fitting a geyser blanket with mates over a beer will translate into great long term energy savings.

Other energy efficient multitasking jobs for men include:

Entertaining the kids by taking them cycling

Doing a grocery shop while the kids are at extra-murals will save on car journeys

Taking a shower and fitting an aerated showerhead will save on water.
