| CEF Carbon makes strides on the continent |
The platform for the marketing initiative was the first-ever Pan Africa Carbon Forum held in Dakar, Senegal, last week and hosted by the International Emissions Trading Association, the World Bank and the United Nations agencies which support the Nairobi Framework. The Nairobi Framework aims to assist developing countries, especially those in sub-Saharan Africa, to enhance their participation in CDM. The ground-breaking high-profile event combined a carbon investment trade fair, a policy forum for African DNAs and climate change officials, as well as targeted capacity building for the CDM. It was attended by more than 500 delegates from African and European countries. South Africa is generally regarded as a leader on the continent in developing CDM projects, and CEF Carbon used the Forum mainly for knowledge sharing and to appraise opportunities for business transactions between project sponsors and global carbon offset credit buyers. |
